Velocity 3.5R Sensor / ACE SERVICE!!
After several hours of attempting to configure the GTB for a meeting I finally pulled the motor apart to see what was wrong. The ESC error was reporting a harness failure, though apart from minor abrasion on one wire’s insulation the harness seemed fine at the ESC end.
We gave up after a couple of hours and determined to find the problem opened up the rear of the 3.5R and managed to extract the SENSOR (lucky I had imperical drivers) and found that we’d damaged a component.
So we’ve written to NOVAK to see what they have to say and prepared to solder it back on with our GOOT micro soldering iron .. tbc..
WOW!!! Less than thirty minutes later.. In amazement.. nearly fell off my chair…
I find a very well written message in my inbox by the technical staff at Team Novak, appreciating my honesty to have been the cause of the damage and “John” was most supportive, explained and answered my questions concisely and encouraged us to do our best… CAN’T ASK FOR MORE THAN THAT!!! RARE BREED… ACE SERVICE… WELL DONE TEAM NOVAK!!!
Cont’d… Persist, persevere, pursue, perform!
Let’s begin by giving GOOT soldering irons and JAYCAR ELECRTONICS a well deserved plug for helping chose the right tool for this task. It’s malleable lead and fine tip made the difficult task of soldering the legs of the sensors back on as easy as possible. And trust me when I say I’m NOT elegant with a soldering iron at all.
Special thanks to the tech team at Novak for giving me the confidence to perform such a fiddly task, success is a measure of how quickly one recovers from failure and this is one of those tasks I consider a success regardless of outcome. It not often I’d attempt something like this and without the team at Novak I wouldn’t have started and would have junked it and deemed it a loss.
